Always great service! I love ordering take out for this place. Food is always ready within 20 mins and is consistently delicious! Would highly recommend this place for a take out night!

Alert Captain Stubing because someone stole food from his 1970's Love Boat galley and is serving it at this restaurant. With seven locations in the Coachella Valley, I understand that it is a checkered table cloth neighborhood Italian restaurant - in seven neighborhoods. For those who want That '70s Food, it's here - with pastas that are slathered in a dark red sauce and limp buttered garlic bread on every table. Although not Italian, the best thing I had was a nicely anchovied Caesar salad. The food went downhill from there. The fried zucchini sticks were bitter. The tomato sauce used on the pasta had fresh basil that was cooked until black and tasted like tea. "Mario's Special" pizza wasn't special. Claiming to be New York style, it wasn't because the dough was too thick. The traditional toppings were okay, but the pizza was almost sauceless and definitely undercooked.

The worst pizza I have ever had, cheese was hard as can be, crust was like pastry crust..zorry but it was bad

So this review isn't about the whole order. I actually liked my meatball sub but the full order of chicken Caesar salad came with two small side dressings I paid for an additional one. But the chicken was the bad part out of this. It came with like half a cup of chicken for this whole salad!!! I mean maybe enough chicken for a side salad. I excepted from Mario's more of like a big sliced grilled chicken breast this was more like small remnants of chicken. Def won't be ordering this again.

Very disappointed, our most recent visit. We went with the $9.95 entree specials. My girlfriend's Veal Parmigiana was roughly 4oz and the sauce tasted very cookie-cutter, like Ragu. My Chicken Fettucine was also 4oz and had more buttery cream sauce than pasta. What the hell happened? we used to like this place...but think this was our last visit. For $35 - we still walked-away hungry. Mario, Peter and Matt.....your success does NOT mean you need to start cutting corners, just to feed us all. In all honesty - our meals tasted more like $4.95 to us. We won't be returning, until you go back to your home-style roots.

First of all, Brian who answered the phone was so nice it made it smile. This family owned, friendly atmosphere place is awesome. Authentic Italian taste. The vinaigrette for the Caprice salad is just amazing. Their Caesar dressing is out of this world. Buon cibo! Te amo Cafe italiano di Mario!

I am a local and l have avoided eating at Mario's just from the reviews I've read. Besides I have a favorite Italian rest but didn't feel like driving yesterday and decided to take a shot at Mario's. I will keep this short but take my word for it that this is the worst food I have ever tried to eat. I threw the entire dinner out. How can anyone who knows anything about Italian food consume this slop. Not only was it disgusting and poorly presented, but my dog would touch it. Just because you serve heart attack sized greasy portions does not make up for quality. Never again!!

You know what? This is not the greatest Italian restaurant, but the portions are big and it's always piping hot and tasty good. Staff works their tails off making customers happy. Fun atmosphere and family owned in desert. For gourmet Italian, it's Mama Ginas, but I like this place for in dining and take out.

Best Caesar salad ever. I've even had Caesar made at my table with real, raw ingredients. This one is the best. Great Italian food for what I think is a pretty reasonable deal. My kid loves their gluten-free "Grandma's Pizza". Whether eating in or taking to go, this is great, tasty food. Highly, highly recommend!

Pizza below average! We stopped in and would have been better off ordering Dominos. Would not go back.

This place has good pizzas, and it is a great option in an otherwise very quiet Bermuda Dunes. It isn't the cheapest of places, but I'd rather pay a bit extra than eat KFC or Panda Express. They are usually fast for phone orders.

BIG glass of wine! I'd say it's like 2 in 1. $6 for a great big cab. Im happy. Beer selection sucks. No draft beers, just bottle. And it's the usual swill. I LOVE the calzone and pizza! I also love the shrimp linguine davalo (thinks that's how you spell it) spicy! I'd say give it a shot! They have multiple locations! I like it enough there to return. Nice ambiance too.

The wife and I went in for dinner tonight. The food is very good, but the service is subpar. Took about 10 mins to get our drink order, another 25 to get our appatizers and another 20 to get our actual food. I was never offered a refill on my drink...and boy did I need one. Kind of disappointed. It wasn't even a busy night! Step yo game up Mario's!!

From one Italian to another, the atmosphere and food here are perfect! I can't say enough about my numerous experiences here! I live in Orange County and I wish we had a Mario's near where I live. Whether you bring your loved ones, spouse, children or friends, you will be treated like family at Mario's. My most dicerning Italian family members, rave about the food at Mario's. This is NOT your over priced, ultra fancy Italian food. This is Italian food like my Noni used to make. From the greeter, server and owner, this is a place to feel like home!

  • Nicole K.

I worked here in 2001-2002 and loved the food! I left the valley in 2003. I try and stop in to eat when I'm back in town if I have time. I love the meat sauce, mushroom sauce and bolognese sauce! They also pour a good size glass of wine. My girlfriends love the Asian salad. New York Cheesecake is so yummy!!

So... You want to hear about my experience. We'll take a seat oh you already are and let me tell you. First, my family and I narrowed down the choices to this lovely cuisine. I have had many great childhood memories with my family and was satisfied with coming here, of course. I noticed the unfriendly takeout workers behind the counter, as soon I walked through the door. I get it , ur not paid to be a hostess but you can at least smile or say hello to a customer. The waiter seemed like he was in a rush when the dinner was not for another 40 minutes. Other tables around us got their food before we did and the food was just gosh darn awful. The only thing that redeemed this place from being a one star was the waiter brought my sister in laws jacket out to our car when we left because she had forgotten it. Will not be coming here for a long time.

Lunch time! We were in the area and decided to try this Mario's, as we have been to others in the past. The place is delightfully decorated in pseudo-Italian, with paintings all over the walls and even the ceiling. We were seated promptly and handed our menus. There is a lot to choose from, and they have a $5.95 lunch special that ought to satisfy everyone but the most inveterate glutton. My wife had the sausage parmagiano and enjoyed it. I was about to order something similar until I saw the pastrami sandwich on the menu and I love pastrami. Well, it wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was good. It wasn't fatty at all, like some pastrami you find, and that may be why it seemed a little dry. And it wasn't piled high, like you find at Sherman's Deli, but I solved that by cutting off the end of the roll and moving all the meat to what bread that was left. It came with a few pepperoncini, too. This is a nice little place, and the prices are right.

  • sarah C.

This was the worst pizza I have had in a long time. The crust tasted like freezer pizza, there was no sauce and gobs of cheese. I don't normally write bad reviews but I really think people should know not to order the pizza. Maybe the other food is better? Not sure, the restaurant was packed when I picked up my food but there must be something good there. Oh yeah...I also got the buffalo wings, the flavor and chicken quality was decent but there was no buffalo sauce on them and they were soggy. I put them in the oven to re crisp and they were edible...and they don't have blue cheese for them...that was weird.

  • Andee S.

Mario's is great food at decent prices with good service. We order pizza from them a lot. For me, the secret favorite dish is really the Oriental Chicken Salad. It is literally my favorite salad ever, from anywhere. Their portions are really huge and could probably be eaten family style, even though I don't think they are meant to be. Good prices on wine.

  • Anna C.

I ordered a pesto pasta and checked with the person on the phone twice but still ended up getting a salad. I mean, I love marios but this isn't the first time they messed my order so people who want it, I recommend going to the actual resteraunt instead of ordering It on the phone.

  • Sam B.

I've actually be going here for several years. This place is great. Their garlic bread is some of the best I've had. They use the same bread to make their sandwiches and that makes them head and shoulders above everyone else. Their meatball sub is excellent. I get it almost every time I go. My wife loves their pasta. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. Also bring your appetite because the portions are big. Truly Italian size portions at a great price!

  • Steven F.

Probably the worst food not just Italian food I have ever had I compare it to dog food that is heated up and the employees act like they are too good to wait or serve you also there is a younger gentleman at the counter that might be the most stuck up restaurant manager I have ever encountered not even a smile just a look like what do you want overall I would not take my worst enemy there

    (1)
  • Maria S.

Very disappointed with how I was treated. The food was good but they made me feel so upset it over shadows the taste of the food. I placed an order for pick up they gave us a 20 minute time frame, it took me about 36 minutes to get there, when I got there it was very busy. The young girl at the upfront counter was able to get my name and order information, she gave me the amount due and I paid. The food was not ready at that time. Once the young girl gave me the receipt I did declined gratuity and return the receipt back to her. A young man next to her took the receipt and said to me "thanks for your contribution we appreciate it". I said "your welcome". (I still didn't have my food, but I already paid for) as I moved to let the next person behind me come up the young man moves the tip jar to the middle of the counter and says to the man paying for dinner "thank you, some people aren't that nice, the person before wasn't that considerate". I couldn't believe my ears. I wanted to cancel my order and just walk out. I ended up waiting about a total of 10 mins in the restaurant. ( I also witnessed a customer come up to the same young man and ask for more wine he replied "if she wants to she'll get it for you" (he was referring to the younger girl next to him, and she did) and I also witnessed another customer ask the same young man for something (I did not hear what was asked) but the young mans response was "yeah but I can't Help you I'm too busy, ask one of the servers inside the restaurant." Ok it is my opinion that not everyone is in a "tip position" a tip for me is for a good or an extra service like getting your table ready, checking on your food to see if you need anything more, or offering to help with your bags to your car etc. I feel I shouldn't have to tip on top of something I already paid for just because you have a tip jar. I wouldn't tip my doctor or the person at McDonald's. I tried to call and talk to a manager they said to call back after 9pm he was to busy. I called back the next day and they said he was out of town with no manager on duty.

Decent food , service is Mediocre depending on who you get. My suggestion would be to hire some better servers with longer skirts !

It is so amazing I got the cheese pizza (I know boring) and it was awesome I loved every bite of it the service there was very friendly and easy. It got even better when I decided to get the cheesecake. It was heaven on earth. I loved this restaurant.

Chinese chicken salad is my favorite thing on the menu. I order it every time I go! The rest of their food is also really good though. Service is good. It's family owner so it wonderful to support independent family businesses.

Tasty, authentic Italian food at a fair price! A cozy, warm, family owned atmosphere with friendly people. Geraldine, Fernando and Denise offer personalized service with a smile. They are never stingy with the meat sauce, which is AMAZING! This Mario's location is simply fantastic! I have, and will continue to recommend this restaurant to all my family, friends and colleagues

I had dinner here the other night. I was so disappointed in the quality of the food ,and as well as my order not right, Was definitely not worth the money or my time. From 1 to 10 .10. Being the best. I. would rated minus one.

We took our family of 5 here for an early dinner for the first time. We all ordered a sub sandwhich. All if the sandwiches were awesome but my favorite was the torpedo. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. I highly recommend Marios.

  • Kimberly P.

Meh. The pizza was edible. The crust was very chewy. The service was fast, but not very personable. I've had better experiences here with their pasta dishes. A bit pricy. $40 for l large pizza, two sodas, and two cannolli. I'll order pasta next time.

  • Matt D.

Can't go wrong. I love the way the locals come in and they are all known. The service is great, the atmosphere is great, and the food is great. I visit Palm Desert every summer and always come to Mario's for dinner at least once and have never been disappointed.

I've eaten in at least three Mario's. They are on my list of restaurants when we visit in the winter. All have been consistent...good food, clean with friendly staff. For dinner I'd suggest opting for the specials....all about $10 ....the regular dinners have too much food....this from a big eater.

Mario Special pizza on a Friday night. What could anyone ask for better. They were excellent at our phone ordering (not confusing), prompt preparing the pizza in 20 minutes, and it was awesome - as usual. Got to try it when your too tired to cook at home.

Went in for my anniversary my wife ordered the veal marsala..... I'm still getting grief about it every time we drive by, it was dry and bland no flavor.

  • Denise E.

The manager is a blonde lady in her 40s (?), with 80's inspired make-up and short skirts that i (in my 20's) could not wear to church. She interrupted us once while asking how many people, and corrected us that "it was what she meant" or something of that sorts. I always have the benefit of the doubt when judging people but let's just say that my husband and I truly look like we are just past legal age, and perhaps we just won't get the same customer service. Who cares, I actually only go there because my hubby loves their pasta carbonara and I, a la Gwyneth Paltrow, "would rather die than cooking that fat at home". This meal's white sauce is undoubtedly made with heavy whipping cream and a whole butter stick...it is delicious, I will give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar; I cringe when the refrigerated leftovers look like pure butter was the only ingredient in the sauce. Portions are inappropriately large...I mean that stuff can feed a family! The decor is overpowering.

Food was ok.. service needs major improvement. Theyre right on it when it comes time to clean up plates but hard to get waters refilled

I live pretty close and wanted a salad for dinner, called and ordered a small Greek salad and 2 slices of garlic bread to go. The total? Just under $17. I kid you not, I asked how many it feeds and she responded with 1. Whatever, i have already ordered it better be one hell of a salad. Get there 10 minutes later, pay for my salad. Sit and wait, frazzled employee tends to 2 others waiting for their takeout (was approx 4pm on a Sunday?) anyway get my little pot of gold home and crack it open. First off my chicken came in a container meant to hold dressing (or salsa at a Mexican restaurant) The smallest portion I have ever seen, for $17??? Seriously? The salad itself was okay, wish it had more chicken, and the lettuce was a little wilted but nothing in edible, and was definitely a single serving. Honestly don't know how what I ordered was $17. Very disappointed.

Mario's Italian Cafe in Bermuda Dunes is the place to go on a night when you don't feel like cooking or even defrosting something. Wife and I came upon it while looking for someplace to do her hair. Saw that it was crowded and thought that should should serve as some sort of testimonial. It was okay. We both had pasta dishes and they were okay. The house wine, served in a good sized glass, was filled to the brim, and it was okay. Service was friendly and fine and the decor was neighborhood style paint and murals. It was all just okay

  • Gerard V.

We ordered a salad, and a minestrone soup for appetizer, : salad OK, Minestrone : they brought the parmesan cheese when soup was already finished. A Bolognese spaghetti for my wife: sauce with no flavor, watery, pasta overcooked. I ordered veal, with Ham and cheese with Marinara spaghetti: O may! never in my life I ate something so flavorless didn't touch the pasta, sauce looked like vomit, the veal oh god forget it. Besides the decor with their wall and ceiling paintings ( I am an art dealer) gave me a feeling of wanting to run away. I should have run away, $ 45 for this lunch : please if in Indio - Bermuda Dunes don't stop there. I hate to do it, but I don't see this restaurant surviving. There are such a good Italians in the area, Pizza&Vino on El Paseo, Cafe Italia 111-Cook, etc Sorry MArio's ..

Food was ok. I will probably never go back. Our server was so sweet and attentive but even our pizza was weird. Wish it was better.

Have been to almost all of the Mario's Restaurants in the Valley, and all are consistently excellent. The one near Sun City has a fantastic staff, with people like Joe to serve you. The one on Sunrise in Palm Springs has "Kim" and she is about as nice as anyone can be. Happy Hour provides the largest glass of wine in the valley for $2.00 or $3.00 depending on the location. Can not say enough about the quality, quanity and service they offer.

I hate to leave negative reviews but my recent visit left such a horrible taste in my mouth that I have to share. My husband and I went in recently to try Mario's for the first time. First, as a new customer I was unfamiliar with their menu so I narrowed my choices down to two items and I asked the server which of those he would recommend... I was very taken back when he shrugged and said, "Neither." I appreciate the honesty but it did not make me feel comfortable ordering as I felt like he didn't think the food he was selling was any good. Second, I know we came in pretty late but the other two tables received a lot more attention than we did. I finished my water before our food arrived and I never received a refill. After I sat with an empty water glass for 15 minutes my husband and I looked at each other and we just knew that we were getting poor service because the server didn't think he would get a tip from us. We are young and had put in a long day so we were dressed very casually. The other patrons were much older (probably snow birds) and had ordered wine etc. while we had simply ordered two meals and water. The server visited with the other patrons, bringing refills and boxing their food for them, while only stopping at our table long enough to drop our food off. He never checked to make sure everything was right, or brought any refills. Little did the server know that both my husband and I have waited tables before and we like to leave very good tips. Our experience in the industry has also taught us what good and great service looks like, and that was NOT it. Oh, and to top it off, when it was time to pay, we practically couldn't get out the door fast enough; we saw him more during that transaction than the entire rest of the visit. Just a tip to the server: if you treat someone poorly because you don't think they are going to leave a good tip, you'll never know if they would have or not, because based on the experience you provide why would they leave you something you don't deserve? Treat all customers with respect and you'll make more money. We left 15% out of obligation but you missed out, we would have left you double that had you given us good service. Neither the food nor the service was worth what we paid. Needless to say, we WON'T be back.

Gluten free pasta and pizza costs A LOT more and the gluten free portions are much smaller than the regular portions. The service isn't good. My grandfather is going deaf and the waiter was short with him. There was no reason for the waiter to be rude.

  • Dan D.

Great food and really good service. My favorites are the Fettuccini Alfredo or the Chefs Salad. I was not expecting a fine dining experience in a strip mall and you should not either, this is a neighborhood restaurant with great food.

  • Cassie H.

The food was fine the service was HORRIBLE. She got our order wrong 3 times and had an attitude when our guest arrived late. The worst Mario's I've ever been too. First time and last time customer for this restaurant

  • Sandy K.

My customer suggested Mario's Italian cus it was close to her office and she said their food decent. We started out with a small antipasta salad which contained Salami, Ham, Mortadella, Pepperoni, Olives, Mushrooms, Bell Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Pepperocini, Cheeses and Italian Garlic Dressing. The salad was good and the portion was large and we could'nt even finish it. I also ordered half of a homemade italian sandwich which had bell peppers, onions and a spicy marinara sauce that was tasty and really filling. I washed it down with a ice tea which was gigantic sized. You can't even finish the big gulp - it's so large. Overall we had a decent lunch and was able to get some business worked out! I would return to Mario's again.

on a long, cross state drive, this was just the ticket, we were hungry, we pulled over for a quick coffee and found this place right next door. Our food was great, the pasta bolognese sauce a very tasty and my meat ball was huge, not as spicy as I like, but filling.. service was a little slow, but over all, it fit the bill, and i don't think the regulars mind the wait..

  • John J.

This is probably a great place if you are a regular, because unless you are good luck in getting service. To make it clear I have been at this family restaurant at least 20 times in the past 10 or more years, OK not the repeat business they count on, however, we also had our daughter's wedding rehearsal at another of thier nearby locations and have frequented that one at least 10 times as well. However to the point. I entered as a single diner on a Monday around 4PM, not crowded but when i was an admitted single I was placed in what appeared to be the only seat in the place that had the sun pouring in directly on the table. I sat and waited, for five minutes I overheard the waiter at a table nearby engaged in conversation of the restaurant business and finally he moved away and noticed me and asked if I wanted a drink. I placed my order and a bit later got the wine. I asked about specials and was told, oh, I can take your wine back as a different wine was the special, good to know, before. I kept it and ordered. I watched as the two servers moved about and conversed and greeted what must have been regulars as the seated them and both servers took turns coming and going and conversing. Meanwhile, single customer me sat at the table and waited. My meal came and the server left. Again much conversing, stories and regaling. My meal was fine, not to be raved on but filling. I sat after finishing and it was pirahanna had arrived, some guy who had not been around swooped in , presented the check and left. I put down the payment and swoop, another guy, different appeared and grabbed it, where were these guys before? I paid and as I left I saw more obvious "regulars" being greeted. To become a regualar you should feel welcome, I felt like a table filler and they did not care if I returned. My bill? for one with a drink and tip, twenty five.

Mario's has the best pizza in the desert by far. It's the cheapest priced for restaurant quality pizza as well. I recommend the Mario's Special and their garlic bread is amazing. Oh and don't forget the Chinese Chicken Salad.....why an Italian place has this I'm not sure but I'm so GLAD they do! It's the best! I also love the decor, exactly what a good Italian Restaurant should look like!

    (5)
  • Craig R.

The food and wine is good and reasonably priced. The service was fast and the waiter friendly. Nothing fancy here but decent Italian food that hit the spot after we spent all day hiking in Joshua Tree NP. I'll eat here again if back in this neck of the desert.

I've been to Mario's 5-6 times now and I've enjoyed it each time. The menu is quite varied and the daily specials are a really good value. I've had the pizza, chicken parmesan and angel pasta with red sauce. They were all tasty and the service has always been good too.

  • Avner M.

Always good food at a great price, however we sat outside and the service makes you not want to come back here. We had to get up and go inside to get someone's attention several times during our meal here. They have another location and the service has always been good there. I would not go back to this location, you can get the same price at the other location and the quality is even better.

Mario's is a desert classic. It's not great, but it's decent and economical. Order a glass of wine and you will see what I mean. A tip from the pros... if you are a red wine drinker, order the chianti, it's better then the cab. Also, I recommend sticking to the pizza and the salads.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the valley. They have the all time #1 BEST Minestrone soup, Vegetarian Torpedo Sandwich and Antipasti. I was tired of eating here all the time, so tried numerous other Italian restaurants in the valley. No other place came close. The prices are very reasonable, the food is great and they always honor special requests., i.e., extra dressing, more bread, etc. I have paid twice as much money for not as great of a meal.

I'm wary of any strip mall restaurants but saw the favorable reviews. I'm actually stunned reading the other reviews since our experience was so much worse. The pizza wasn't good, mediocre at best, and quite pricey for what you get. The beer selection is not good. The service we got was horrible. We ended up changing tables since we had 2 more people join us and getting anything was a major delay, especially the check. I rarely write reviews but this warranted my time.

Mario's is a comfy local joint where we like to pop in for an inexpensive pasta or pizza dinner and be close to home. Their specials are well priced and their pasta servings are extremely generous even if you get the 'lite eaters' size which is under $10. Throw in a big ol' glass of red wine, and you have yourself a great little deal. I've gone to the one on Washington near the Stater Bros. near Sun City Palm Desert, and the one in La Quinta on Jefferson. They serve dependably tasty dinners. While it's not gourmet fare, I have never been unhappy with my choice. The place is hopping even on weeknights, and when other locals are flocking there, that's a good sign. If we're trying to cut the carbs, as my husband does, he orders a full size (and I mean FULL) caesar salad and a side order of Italian sausage. He comes home very happy.

  • Deron R.

We have eaten here a number of times but we always phone order and pick up to take home since our condo is close. The dining room is a bit small so we just do take out. The food is middle of the road, nothing that goes above and beyond but you will not go away hungry. We started ordering off their "Lite" menu which is a little cheaper and the entrees still fill me up with a little left over for breakfast in the AM. I have noticed that food can be a bit bland so I have started to ask for extra garlic or whatever to kind of spice it up. The pizza is OK but too pricey, I think. The staff that is very nice and friendly. We keep coming back due to staff and proximity to our location.

This place was good, but too expensive for the atmosphere. I'm not one to go cheap on food either. I have no problem paying a couple hundred for good food and good atmosphere. You do get a lot of food for a pasta dish it could feed two people. I would like to try their pizza and they have a to-go option. I just think they we're pricy for what they offer. The service was great my waitress was very kind. I would eat here again, but I would go during lunch when they have their specials and it's cheaper.

I don't get it. It's not because you serve pasta and/or pizza you can call yourself an Italian restaurant. You have to cook it like they do in Italy. Mario's is an American spaghetteria and pizzeria like most "wanna be" Italian restaurants. I give a two star rating instead of one because the waiter tried to rip me off. It felt like being in Italy!

Food was ok, but the waiter was the worst, he was distracted, disinterested and generally inattentive. Well below it's normal standards.

I've said it before, Great Italian food can only be home-made. With that being said, there are a few good Italian restaurants. This is not one of them. I realize it's not an expensive restaurant. The pizza was good and the calzone was awful....loaded with ricotta with little marinara sauce and even less mozarella. Exc - None Good - None Ave - Service Poor - Food

I've eaten at Mario's in Bermuda Dunes at least a two dozen times over the past 3-4 years. I exclusively order chicken piccatta, a side salad, and a glass of house red (wine). It comes with a couple of slices of way over buttered french bread that while tasty, could be a serious short cut to a heart bypass. On my earlier visits I would get served a couple big hunks of chicken along with a boat load of pasta. It was yummy, but honestly -always a bit too greasy. I overlooked this grease because I don't consider it to be my normal meal out - it's more like a guilty treat. The past few times the chicken picatta formula has changed (along with a price increase). It no longer is bountiful in portion size, in fact - I left hungry on my last visit. I guess they figured I wouldn't notice the smaller chicken serving if they filled the plate with pasta - WRONG! The chicken isn't top shelf poultry by any measure either. It's pressed flat and cooked by short order cooks, at least that's the feeling I get when it's served. One saving grace for Mario's is they serve a healthy glass of wine for $5.00. Local retirees appreciate that fact as it takes the edge off a meal that is average at best. My bill usually comes out to $25.00 before tax. I don't think this is much of a value, I'm looking for healthier alternatives.

It's a nice place to meet friends over pizza ( I didn't have their pizza but, you really can screw that up) and drinks. I ordered the Pomodoro with penne and it was a large enough portion to take home for next day's lunch. In my opinion the tomato tasted like it was from a can. So I won't be going there anytime soon. I little about my background, so you can judge my opinion. My Italian friends took me to visit their families, one family in Bari, a 600 year old town in Italy and the other in Capaci. Where his Italian Mama, who didn't speak any English cooked from scratch daily for us. YUMMY!!!! DAMN I'm missing her fresh cooking!

We had to wait even though tables were open, they sat people (party of 3) that arrived before they sat us (party of 2). No one took our drink order, the waitress rushed by hurried us to order and we never saw her again until the bill came. The food wasn't all that great both of us got sick that night. We won't be going back

Came here upon a recommendation from the hotel down the street. We were looking for good pasta (needed to carb load the night before a race) and fast! We arrived on a busy Friday night, but were quickly seated and then quickly visited by our server. As my date was the only one doing the racing, I opted for a glass of house red wine, which was promptly served to me (probably about twice what you normally get in a glass). Seemed like there were lots of great options on the menu and I liked that they offered half-orders (note that the half-orders are still enough for 2-3 meals for the average person). I ordered eggplant parm and my date got a simple pasta and mushroom sauce. Both were excellent. Service was fast and friendly enough and the food was delish. Sadly, did not leave enough room for dessert. I would visit again if the opportunity presented itself.

We always hit up Mario's when we are in town. The sauce is light and flavorful. I typically order the eggplant parm, which comes with a side of spaghetti. My husband gets the chicken picata. The portions are big enough to share or you can eat left overs for days. It's always good, we keep coming back!

You can only go so long on the shoulders of your father... food was average. Portions large. Local seniors dig the place.

If this review would have been based on our first visit, it would have been 4, maybe 5 stars. However, after subsequent visits, the quality of the food has been diminishing, yet prices rising. Ambience- Basic, cramped, and crowded. Food- Used to be really good, but now it's a crap shoot everytime we go. Very inconsistent. Service- We usually take-out, but when we do eat their, service is appropriate, nothing fancy.

Prices have gone thru the roof! Used to be inexpensive to eat there now it's $50.00 for three people for lunch, no alcohal? Food was average, they use alot of salt now to beef up the flavor, Next lunch looking for better food same price?

I have lived in the desert now for five years and live somewhat close to this Mario's location. This was one of the first restaurants that I got take out from after having moved her. Bottom line the food is mediocre & overpriced. I will from time, have a craving for a great plate of meat balls and pasta. I end up making the mistake (2 different times) of returning. They have raised their prices EACH time. There is one gal in there that is a waitress and she is so very nice. THAT is the only thing going for them. Go to Mama Gina's on El Paseo its only 10 mins down the road. That place rocks.

Nice little family restaurant. We enjoyed our meal which consisted of an Antipasto Salad & Garlicy Cheese Bread for starters, then Spaghetti w/ Meat Sauce & Penne w/ Bolognese for main course. Pasta portions were big, so unless you are a big eater I think the "Light Eaters" size is more than enough. Enjoyed all of it & will come again.

Not a bad spot. But how they won all the awards for best Italian, leaves me to believe they were the only ones in that category. Sauce was runny, and didn't taste all that great. Left back to hotel and ate shells n cheese. Enjoyed that better.

Basically good Italian fare at a reasonable price. Not a lot of elbow room in the dining area. Good place to feed a pasta craving without breaking the bank. Service is good and friendly.

Budget Cuisine frozen entrees are better. To save money, it seems like they took Prego and added water. Actually, I don't mean to discredit Prego, not even they are this bad. Denny's probably would make better Italian without even having to expand their kitchen. I assumed a place that can afford to open multiple restaurants would actually be good. So I went in and asked the waitress what they were known for. She suggested the Lasagna and I accepted. That chick deserves a raise, she sold me a plate of dog poo! Are you kidding me? Never again! This place makes Olive Garden seem like it's straight out of Sicily, and we all know that's not even close to the truth. At least you have multiple locations to choose from to go and be dissapointed at. Enjoy the slop.

Good cheap Italian. The full size portions are huge - these days I just get a single dish plus small salad to share with my partner. Even after sharing a single dish there is enough to have another meal. Not all the dishes here are winners, but I really like the Baked Mostaccioli which is excellent, and their Bolognese sauce is one of my all time favorites for a Bolognese.

I've visited almost every Mario's location here in the desert. Food is always pretty good and service is fast and friendly. I reccomend the Homemade Sausage Marsala. It's enough food to feed four people. The italian sausage is homemade on the premise sauted with bell peppers, mushrooms and onions. It it then served with a heaping side of spagetti with marinara sauce. Not a plave to eat if you are on a diet! Great comforting, italian cuisine! The only thing I've had that I didn't enjoy was the linguini with clams (white sauce). It was a little too fishy for me. I prefer a lemon/butter sauce. But other wise everything else is great. I reccomend the Mario's Special Pizza, Chicken Marsala, Homemade Sausage Marsala, (Chicken Livers....I have not tried but all of my co-workers say its the best they have ever had), Meatball Sandwich, Shrimp Scampi and the Chinese Chicken Salad is fantastic!!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
